Myth: Rafting is dangerous
Busted:
While there is inherent risk in doing anything in a wilderness settings, there is
nowhere on Earth with a safer rafting industry than here in B.C. Members of the BCROA
adhere to industry leading standards that surpass government regulations. Ask any guide:
they’re more concerned about their safety driving in city traffic than rafting on the river.
Myth: Rafting is expensive
Busted:
There aren’t many guided outdoor activities that
are as affordable as rafting – trips start at $99 for a half day. And the value is unmatched:
excellent food, gear included, professional guides, shuttles and sometimes free photos from
your adventure. Even multi-day expeditions are good value when you include the costs of
charter flights and how much you save by not being able to spend a cent for two weeks.
The staff at Destiny River Adventures would like to wish you and yours all the best of the season. We hope that you have a happy, healthy and prosperous new year and look forward to seeing you again on the river!
Our whitewater tours on the Nimpkish and Puntledge Rivers wrapped up with an amazing raft and snorkel with the salmon season in August, September and October. We had record returns of salmon in the Campbell River both of the last two years, with counts approaching 900,000 pinks in 2009, more than 6 times the number of pink salmon expected. The crystal clear water of this heritage designated river allowed for easy viewing of the record number of salmon in the river. We expect large numbers of salmon back again next season for our late summer raft & snorkel with the salmon tours.

The latest information from the government is that they will be proceeding with the HST, a new combined federal and provincial tax that comes into effect for the 2010 season. We have been informed that if guests pay in full for their 2010 tours prior to May 1 they will not be subject to this tax increase. All tours paid for after May 1 will be subject to this additional 7% government tax. We would like to pass this saving along to our rafting friends – so if you are planning a tour in 2010 contact us to book before May 1!
We have retired our original movie bus to a good home – she will be converted to a RV by a local family that likes to surf on the west coast. Two new (to us) buses have been added to the fleet, so we now can run local Campbell River tours at the same time as we run full day Nimpkish trips. We also have the ability to offer bus charter services throughout the season now and not just when we aren’t rafting.
Watch for us on the road to the Olympics – we will be providing bus transportation services to village staff working at Whistler for approx. 7 weeks this January to March.
