"I just couldn't envision how we would see all these salmon, but the water was so clear and there were so many salmon it was just .... it was amazing.  It was mind-blowing. Everyone should do it.  I can't wait 'til people see it.  They're really going to think it's amazing".

"It's floating. It's simple. You don't have to be a strong swimmer.  As long as you like being in the water, everyone should do it."

Rick Mercer, host of the Rick Mercer Report, CBC. August 2011

Rafting Tours - Snorkel with the Salmon

Raft & Snorkel with the Salmon

3 hours - $109 adult, $99 youth

This 3 hour tour is unique to the Campbell River. Each year thousands of salmon return to the river from which they started. The crystal clear water allows for easy viewing of the salmon in the river environment from the raft - or you can don a wetsuit and participate in one of the most unique experiences by snorkeling in the river pools teeming with thousands of salmon.

All five species of Pacific salmon can be found here over the course of the run, starting with pinks in late July.  Then chinook, coho, and sockeye arrive through August and September with the chum salmon the last arrivals of the season. If you are lucky you may even see a steelhead or cutthroat trout holding in one of the pools.  Rafters have also seen black bear, deer, beaver, weasel, eagles, mergansers, kingfishers, seals and other wildlife on this family tour.

Times: 9 AM and 1 PM Tours, custom tour times may be available. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.

Season: July 28 - early October. Prime salmon snorkeling season begins in August.
